Good Wine Under $20 recently took a taste of 2008 Drylands Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and thought pretty highly of it.
Gooseberries, lemon, and herbs wafted right out of the bottle. After I drank it I checked my notes to be sure. My suspicions were confirmed. This is the most exciting New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc I've tasted this year.Sauvignon blanc originated in the Bordeaux region of France, but New Zealand's wine industry is doing great things with the grape. California, Australia, South Africa, Chile, and Argentina are also major producers of sauvignon blanc wines.
This is a wine with the character necessary to stand up to spicy food, according to the author.
