Australia Creates New Wine Region
Filed in archive Australian Wines on January 30, 2008
Australian wine is hot right now, and a wine region called "New England Australia" in New South Wales has been added to the Australian Geographical Indication (GI) List. From Decanter:jock Osborne, executive officer of the GI committee (part of the Australian Wine & Brandy Corporation), said, 'The establishment of the New England Australia GI will enable wine growers in the district to regionally brand and market their wines.
Australian wine makers want wine drinkers to know that wines from different regions of the country have their own unique characteristics. New England Australia encompasses the main towns of Armidale, Glen Innes, Inverell and Tenterfield, and is positioned north of the Hunter.
