Australian Wine Has Seoul
Filed in archive Australian Wines on November 17, 2006
Australian wine is hitting a relatively new market, Seoul, Korea as it continues to dominate the wine industry.
What better way to get the word out around the world than to have a little friendly competition among different countries?
Here's more from Aussie Wine Makes Inroads Into Seoul:
The Australian Wine and brandy Corporation held a tasting event of its top 33 awardwinning wines from the 2006 International Wine and Spirit Competition in London, in collaboration with the Australian Trade Commission in South Korea at the Seoul Plaza Hotel, Monday.
"To recognize and expand support of Australian wines in South Korea, the Australian Wine and Brandy Corporation is trying to bring more Australian wine here with various promotional events like this," Ali Hogarth, executive officer of the corporation, said.
She said that her country won 30 gold medals, 107 silvers and 269 bronzes in the wine competition, which confirms the great quality of Australian wines. Plus, Hogarth stressed that it is the second year in a row that Australia has been at the top of the competition, followed by South Africa and France.
As a step to promote Australian wine in Korea, she announced that a new Web site on Australian wine was launched in Korean language (www.wineaustralia. com/korea). The Web site covers not only a variety of aspects of wine but also some useful information about Australia including its history.
