From KWV's Cathedral Cellar Chardonnay wins gold again!:
KWV's ultra premium wine brand, Cathedral Cellar, has won a gold medal again - and once again it is the 2005 Chardonnay that has been crowned, this time at the Juliet Cullinan Wine Connoisseur's Awards.
The same wine and vintage was rated as one of the Top 10 Chardonnay's produced in South Africa at the prestigious Diner's Club Winemaker Awards in 2006. Last year, it was also the 'Best in Class' and won a silver medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in London.
Cathedral Cellar has received more than 60 international and South African medals and accolades for its outstanding quality and consistency since its launch in the early 1990's.
The grapes come from the Coastal Region with its ideal Mediterranean-style climate. They were selected from a special vineyard and pressed in a bag press to extract maximum flavour. Thereafter barrel maturation in French oak took place for nine months in the famous Cathedral Cellar that is both the physical and spiritual home of the brand.
