Clean Slate Wine

Even though we have dipped into the 50s around here lately, that doesn't mean I'm turning my nose up as sweet white wines like Riesling.

So, I may have to try to find a bottle locally of this wine I just read about that's going for about $10 a bottle, not a bad price at all for a Riesling!

Here's more from a Clean Slate Wine press release:

New from Click Wine Group, CLEAN SLATE is a crisp, mouthwatering, German Riesling in a modern, elegant package -- no translator required. The new, award-winning wine brings a fresh look to the burgeoning category with an upscale label, a clear Bordeaux bottle and a screw cap. Perfectly attuned to today's wine consumer, the label is easy to read, the name memorable and the wine delicious. CLEAN SLATE is available nationwide for the suggested retail price: $10.99.

"Riesling is all the rage right now and we anticipate its popularity will continue to increase throughout the holiday season and into the coming year," said Jeff Pygott, National Wine Buyer, Stop & Shop Supermarket Company/Giant Food LLC. "We expect CLEAN SLATE will be very popular with our customers because it is a delicious wine at a great price. It's the perfect accompaniment to Thanksgiving dinner, a spicy dish or your favorite type of Sushi."

In a category once better known for its indecipherable labels and sweeter taste profiles, CLEAN SLATE is a breath of fresh air. In short, it's not your grandfather's Riesling, but a thoroughly modern wine that will undoubtedly attract new fans to this exceptional varietal. Destined to become another Click Wine Group classic, each and every bottle consistently over delivers on quality. CLEAN SLATE has already been awarded "Best Riesling and Double Gold" at the 2006 San Francisco International Wine Competition.

On the palate, CLEAN SLATE presents a refreshing, off-dry style with a perfect balance of ripe peach flavors, mineral notes and vibrant acidity all hallmarks of Riesling from Mosel Saar Ruwer. CLEAN SLATE pairs as perfectly with Asian, Spanish and Indian cuisines and other spicy dishes as it does with traditional American favorites such as shellfish, grilled fish, chicken and turkey.

If you're already managed to try this, please post a comment. I'm curious.
