Fetzer Vineyards Riesling
Filed in archive German Wines on October 1, 2006
Have I ever met a Riesling I didn't like? Hmmm...I'm not sure. I haven't tried this yet, just heard about it, but I'm going to keep a look out for it on my next few wine gathering trips, a new Riesling from Fetzer Vineyards.
Here's more on this new vintage from a company press release: fetzer vineyards is introducing a new Valley Oaks Riesling in select states, sourced from two of the greatest German growing regions, the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer and the Rheinhessen. The wine is styled as an off-dry Riesling, similar to Fetzer's award-winning California Riesling, one of the most popular wines in this category nationwide.
John Tichenor, Group Brand Director at Brown-Forman, says the German Riesling will allow Fetzer to meet rising demand for this varietal, which has been steadily increasing with each vintage. "Our Valley Oaks white varietals have always been popular, and Riesling's versatility as both a wonderful food wine and apéritif has created a unique opportunity to introduce wonderful wines from the most notable Riesling sources in the world." The wine is priced at $8.99 per 750ml.
