Forbes Thinks Wine is Good...Maybe
Filed in archive Wine News on October 3, 2006
I love it when I read articles like this one from Forbes about the health benefits of wine. They say it's good for you. They even quote a recent study from some super-duper important medical place. And, then they go back and say....whoops...maybe it isn't good for everyone.
We all have to be so politically correct these days. Don't we?
From Health Tip: Red Wine May Be Good for You:
Recent research shows that red wine -- limited to a four-ounce glass per day -- may help protect you from heart disease, cancer, and even neurological disease.
The Yale-New Haven Hospital says flavonoids in wine help reduce bad (LDL) cholesterol and raise good (HDL) cholesterol. Wine can also reduce your risk of blood clots, and positively impact lipids in the blood after a meal.
Despite these potential benefits, some shouldn't drink alcohol at all. Liver disease, depression, hypertension and congestive heart failure all can be exacerbated by alcohol. You should talk to your doctor about what's right for you.

I always love hearing that those small pleasures in life are also really good for your health. Wine, chocolate and green tea, for example. I love having my glass of red wine every night, and there's additional pleasure in sipping and knowing it's also good for me.
