Grand Prix Wine
Sipping wine and taking the time to harvest grapes to create a unique vintage does not seem like the slow-paced lifestyle of your usual race car driver, but to each his own. I guess living in the fast lanr all the time may require you to occasionally take a slow side trip and relax. Such is the case for race car driver and wine maker Jarno Trulli.

From Winery Provides Trulli With Vintage Experience Outside F1:

Trulli has been competing in F1 since 1997 and racing since 1983. For the past 10 years, he also has been deeply involved in his other "profession," making wine.

"This is a passion that comes from far back because we have already been doing this for 10 years," he said. "We brought it back into my family because my grandfather used to make wine.

"But now it is much more serious. It is much better organized. We have a serious winery, vineyard, factory and a brand-new, underground, 3,000 square-meter (32,292 square feet) cellar. It is a big investment, but we are doing well. I am very happy."

The winery and vineyards are located at an altitude of 1,083 feet (330 meters) about 18 miles (30 km) inland from Pescara, an east coast town located in southern Italy on the Adriatic Sea. Rome is situated almost due almost west of Pescara.

Called Podere Castorani, the vineyard can trace its roots back to 1793. Today, Trulli and his partners own the company that creates the Podere Castorani wines and sells them around the world.
