Jacob's Creek Cabernet Sauvignon
Filed in archive Australian Wines on April 26, 2007
I've been making my way through Jacob's Creeks wine list during my weekly cheap wine trips to the local grocery store. So far, I've tried the Shiraz (shrugs shoulders) and the Merlot, which was much more to my liking.
So, of course, during the next sale, this time two for ten dollars, I had to try out their Cabernet Sauvignon, and I have say this was way better than the other two attempts. The company's web site has a slew of information about it if you are into all that detail, but here's their tasting description:
Bouquet
A nose displaying intense varietal aromas of stewed plums, green capsicum, blackcurrant and rhubarb with hints of spice and subtle oak influence.
Palate
A fruit driven style with concentrated flavours of
blackcurrants and plums with hints of spice, a nice restrained
use of oak, fine tannins and persistent length. A stylish wine that is full-bodied, with admirable balance and is very approachable.
