Three very different members of the Jacob's Creek range of wines have found their way into Matthew Jukes 100 Best Australian wines 2007.
The 2005 Jacob's Creek Steingarten Riesling, the 2001 Jacob's Creek Johann Shiraz Cabernet and the 2005 Jacob's Creek Shiraz completed a hat trick of winners for Australia's most popular winery.
Jacob's Creek winemaker Philip Laffer was particularly pleased with the diversity of wine styles that made it into the top 100.
"It is testament to our winemaking team's great skills that we can have a Shiraz at £6, a Riesling at £15 and a classic Australian Shiraz Cabernet blend at £40, each selected in such a prestige list," Laffer said.
The 2005 Jacob's Creek Steingarten Riesling is a fresh, crisp, citrusy Riesling, with the majority sourced from the famous Steingarten vineyard high in the hills of the Barossa Valley.
The 2005 Jacob's Creek Shiraz is one of Australia's greatest red exports, with fruits sourced from many of South Australia's best winegrowing regions. It is a classic, rich, mouth-filling Shiraz that still provides some of the best value drinking in the world.
The 2001 Jacob's Creek Johann Shiraz Cabernet is a multiple award-winning wine, having collected four trophies and 16 gold medals on the Australian wine show circuit. The wine is a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon in the iconic Australian style, with the Shiraz sourced predominantly from the Barossa Valley and the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Coonawarra.
