Montgras Cabernet Sauvignon
Filed in archive Wines from Chile on February 23, 2007
A few weeks ago we included a bottle of 2005 Montgras Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon from Chile as part of our weekend wine tasting event. This is pretty hardy vintage, and while we snacks on cheese and crackers, I would have liked to drink this (now that I got to taste it) with a meal.
Here are the stats from the Montgras web site:
Appearance
Deep ruby red with purple notes.
Aromas
Ripe raspberry and cassis notes with elegant smoke and mineral notes.
Flavours
Medium bodied, fruity and balanced with a nice core of cedar and toasty notes.
Varietal Composition 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
Appellation Colchagua
Vineyards MontGras, San José Estate
Trellis System lyre and vertical shoot positioning
Soil Type Clay
Age of Vines 12 years
We definitely tasted the smoky flavor. That combined with the high alcohol content is why I would suggest drink this with a mea, perhaps some pasta or steak for you meat lovers out there.
