More Bubbly for Malaysia

Wine sales continue to grow in Malaysia, thanks mostly to reports about health benefits that wine might deliver. Heart disease is one of the top five killers in the country, and people have paid attention to reports that resveratrol might reduce the likeliness of the disease. As more and more Malaysians are drinking wine, champagne too has seen an increase in demand. Tattinger, in particular, sees Malaysia as a promising market and is planning to expand its business there. From The Star Online:
Giorgio Ferrari Pte Ltd is the distributor of Taittinger's products in Malaysia. Its managing director Dr Giorgio Ferrari said: "We want to be more visible in Malaysia in terms of branding. This would be a big market for us in the future."
In Asia, beer and whisky remained top choices but growing affluence, combined with change in gastronomy, were pushing people to go for fine wines and this was the changing face of Asia, said Taittinger.
