Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc
Filed in archive Cheap Wines , New Zealand Wines on March 31, 2007
I scooped up a 2006 bottle of Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc on my weekly cheap wine adventure at the grocery store. I think I paid around $5 or made a little less for this bottle, and I was pleasantly pleased. Very light and fruity, in the citrus family, this was not as tart as I half expected.
You can find some tasting notes on the company's web site. The Wine Club also has a little blurb about it:
Light straw in color with green hues and brilliant clarity. A distinctive Marlborough bouquet of cut grass and capsicum. New Zealand Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc at its best, this wine displays excellent palate weight and length, with flavors of ripe passion fruit, lemon and peach supported by fresh, zesty acidity.
Producer Nobilo
Varietal Sauvignon Blanc
Category White
Region New Zealand : Marlborough
Alcohol 12.5%
However, most of what I found when researching this wine was references to 2005 or even 2004. The few places I did see this for sale had prices around $5.99 or so. Thus, I guess I didn't get a huge deal on this, but still, if it's under $5 and more than drinkable, I'm usually okay with that.
