Sparkling Wine
by Sandy Mitchell on April 5, 2008

Perrier-Jouet, the luxury and historic Champagne house has launched its first ever tailor-made Champagne, called "Perrier-Jouet By and For." More than just a sparkling wine, this wine, of which only 100 cases will be allocated worldwide, will be chosen by the buyer from 12 samples blended by Perrier-Jouet Chef de Cave, Herve Deschamps.
In addition, the buyer will be invited to spend the night at the Perrier-Jouet Maison, which has never before been open to the public, and view its renowned Art Nouveau art collection. They will also be given a behind-the-scenes look at the Champagne maker's operation.
Once the blend is chosen for the Champagne, the bottles will be aged an additional year in one of 100 special alcoves designed for the project.
At 50,000 Euros per case (approximately $79,000), it's certainly not for everyone, but still it's an intriquing and innovative idea.
