Peter Lehmann Chardonnay
We received a few bottles of Peter Lehmann Barossa Chardonnay through our international wine club. Now, you know I'm not a big fan of chardonnay. I'm not even a little fan of chardonnay. In fact, neither is my husband who promptly told me these bottles could go on my side of the wine rack.

Since I'm trying to broaden my white wine experience, I accepted, but of course, these went to the back for the fridge where they sat for some time until I was in the mood. In other words, I was out of red wine and not ready to break into any of the good stuff.

For a chardonnay it was okay, not any worse, maybe a little better than the last time I remember drinking it.

Here are the tasting notes from the company web site: The Peter Lehmann chardonnay philosophy is very much about making a delicate, soft refreshing style of wine with accent on the primary fruit flavours.

Oak fermentation and maturation is used very sparingly; just 10% of the blend is fermented in new French oak using only wild yeast, followed by 6 months lees contact which gives a beautiful textural creaminess on the palate and adds complexity to the clean fruit characters.

The carefully selected blend of Barossa Valley with the higher hills Eden Valley Chardonnay vineyards gives a wine with good depth of fruit and a stylish, taut structure.
