Pinot Grigio for New Years Eve

Filed in archive California Wines on January 2, 2009

My wife and I dropped in on some friends early on NY Eve. We'd planned to be home by 11pm or so. After all, we live in a very rural area and it's not like there are block parties going on. But as it turned out, we stayed later than that. So my champagne is still chilling in the fridge and the drink of choice last night was a bottle of Barefoot Pinot Grigio that I took to the party...

Tammy reviewed this wine back in 2006. She quoted the blurb from the bottle itself:
Barefoot Pinot Grigio is a crisp and refreshing wine with bright aromas and flavors of citrus and fresh green apple. Hints of jasminie compliment a bright, elicate, flavorful finish [...] perfect match with poultry, seafood, spicy pasta, and pizza. 13% alcohol
I thought it was a nice crisp wine. We weren't really eating - just some chips and dip and veggies. But I enjoyed it a lot, especially considering the reasonable price of only six bucks.

Now my dilemma: when do I drink the champagne? Maybe soon...
