Wine Resources

Who doesn't love Ted Allen? You might know him as the food and wine expert from the bravo tv series "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy." He also was a judge on the series Top Chef. The guy knows a thing or two about the subject at hand. Last spring people enjoyed his PBS series called "Uncorked! Wine Made Simple" and it has just been released on a three-disk DVD set. This is a great introduction to wine for people who want to learn about it, but might be otherwise intimidated. The episodes of the series begin with the origins of the wine industry in America (``First Taste''), continue with the wine regions of California (``Napa Valley,'' ``Sonoma'' and ``Central Coast'') and conclude with the wine of France (``France, Part 1'' and ``France, Part 2''). Each episode is about 30 minutes long.
Each disc includes bonus features that take the lessons a bit further. There are extended interviews, tips on pairing food with wine, and segments on making certain foods that pair well wines. Check out the trailer for the series to get an idea of what's covered on the DVD set:
