Snooth Raises Addition $1M in Funding

From the PR.com:"
Snooth is a powerful tool that helps average wine drinkers and connoisseurs alike find better wine experiences," said site founder Philip James. "The site's detailed search options and social recommendations allow users to quickly cut through the clutter to find the perfect wine for their individual preferences."
Snooth.com was launched in June 2007 and says its database contains more than 300,000 wines with 1.9 million reviews. Users can purchase wines from Snooth's network of nearly 1,000 wine sellers. Snooth also launched a Facebook application during the summer, allowing Snooth's functionality to bridge to the other social networking site. I actually have the Snooth app on my Facebook profile and I think it's a great way to quickly share wine info with my other friends who use Facebook. Earlier this month, Snooth added the "My Wines" page to its site. "My Wines" allows users to build and manage their personal wine cellars, update wish lists (just in time for the holidays!), and keep track of reviews and tasting notes. Users can search results and then sort by recent activity, quality/price ratio, or ratings. You can also view wines according to availability (from the wine merchants Snooth partners with). Users can export and share all of their results.
There are other sites that offer similar functionality, including the seemingly abandoned Cork'd (which I have used) and CellarTracker. I have heard that CellarTracker seems to be the online catalog of choice for people with serious wine cellars, though I have never used the site, personally. If you want to check out the wines I've rated on Snooth, click here and feel free to add me as a friend if you have a Snooth profile as well!
