Star Spangled Wines

Here in the United States we're celebrating Independence Day today. But don't feel like you necessarily have to pour yourself a beer to go with the burgers or barbeque you might be grilling today. There are plenty of great wines that pair well with typical cook-out fare. Epicurious has some suggestions for delicious wines to enjoy on the Fourth:
For Fourth of July festivities it's not at all cliché to think red, white, and pink. We're talking about all-American wines. Given the bounty of food we find on the tables at most outdoor celebrations, the possibilities are endless. Grilled meats - hot dogs, burgers, steaks - call for fruity reds, slightly chilled, from medium-bodied pinot noirs and berry-scented Merlots to spicy Zinfandels and full-on Cabernets. (More tannic wines work best with fattier meats, softening them.) With raw bar and salads, chilled seafood, and grilled fish, crisp Sauvignon Blancs and buttery Chardonnays come to mind. Sauvignon Blancs are citrusy, while Chardonnays are more buttery, so think about which fish you'd spritz with lemon and which you'd drizzle with drawn butter.
