Tempting Torress Tempranillo
Filed in archive Spanish Wines on June 16, 2006
Forgive the silly alliteration in my blog title today, but I couldn't resist just like my husband and I couldn't resist the taste of this great Spanish wine: 2003 Torres Coronas Tempranillo.
It was one of the selections from our international wine club, and hopefully, they have some more because we'd like to get a few more bottles.
Fingers crossed!
On the winery's web site they describe this as follows:
Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo are the grapes that bestow their nobility on Gran Coronas, a wine of a deep red hue, with ochre and brick-red touches from its ageing.
Wine and Food
Excellent with any meat dish, from the simplest grilled steak to the finest game.
Tasting Notes
The rich, sensual aroma is typical of the grape varieties recalling small red and black berries (cherries and blackcurrants), green coffee beans, liquorice and the characteristic vanilla and leather notes from ageing. On the palate the wine is full and silky with dense, well-structured tannins.

Awards
Gold Medal Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2003 (1999 Vintage)
Gold Medal Challenge International du Vin 2003, France (1999 Vintage)
What stood out to us when tasting this wine was how smooth it was. Amazing!
