I looked last month at Portugal's wine regions because of the growing interest in that country's wines. Well, now BusinessWeek is characterizing the growing popularity of Portuguese wines as a revolution...
Every revolution has a revolutionary, and in this case it's Dirk van der Niepoort. His family's been in Portugal since 1842 and he's the fifth generation of family wine makers. How is he a revolutionary? Niepoort's estate is in the traditional Douro Valley region that produces the Port that Portugal is famous for - and instead of focusing on Port, Niepoort has started making high quality table wines.
So far, he's doing qute well at it.
