Time for Beaujolais

My husband - funny man that he is - told me, "Okay, this wine is meant to be enjoyed right away. It's Beaujolais you know."
Oh, really? I'll have to drink this wine right now! How awful! No please! Let us put it in the wine rack and let it sit there for a few weeks first!
Of course, here is why you should not feel guilty about drinking your Beaujolais right now:
Romaneche-Thorins, October 23, 2006-Beaujolais Nouveau, the first wine of the harvest, goes from vine to bottle on your store shelf in just a matter of weeks - 11 weeks to be exact for the 2006 vintage. The harvest started on September 5th and was finished within three weeks under good weather conditions. Overall, the quality of grapes this year has been outstanding and the wine promises to offer great enjoyment.
According to Duboeuf, he experienced a moment of pure pleasure as he and his team tasted the first two wines. "We are pleased to say we were delighted, thrilled and very satisfied with the first bottling of Beaujolais Nouveau 2006, which began on the morning of October 19th. It was a great time of intense emotion as we tasted the real pleasures of this very flavorful vintage."
After many weeks of intense yet fascinating work that is stressful and tiring for the winemakers as well as for the technicians and oenologists, Duboeuf offers his final assessment of the 2006 Beaujolais Nouveau: "There is a lovely color that, in the space of a few days has become much more intense than we had thought. In summary, the 2006 Beaujolais Nouveau is a magnificent bright, deep ruby color. The aromas are particularly attractive for their fruitiness and finesse, giving off ripe red berry scents which contain hints of black currant
, strawberry, raspberry, blackberry and black cherry. There are also touches of bilberry, faded roses, violets and the merest hint of spices in the nose. On tasting the vintage-it is hearty, smooth, unctuous and full-bodied. The floral and fruity theme found in the aromas continues in the mouth. The lovely structure lines the palate with aromatic impressions sustained by pleasantly mellow, fresh tannins.""Beaujolais Nouveau 2006 will be a joy to drink on November 16," says Duboeuf, "but I assure you that it will develop superbly over many weeks to come. Enjoy the wine as soon as it comes to market, but why not set aside a bottle or two to drink in two or three months time as well?"
The 2006 Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais Nouveau arrives on store shelves around the world on November 16th with its trademark colorful label created just for the vintage by artist Alain Vavro. This year's label exudes a vibrant array of jewel tone hues that take the form of grapes splashed across the bottle-fun and festive just like Beaujolais Nouveau.

Beaujolais Nouveau 2006-a unique delight, an unrivalled pleasure, a tasty, flavorful vintage of outstanding quality. For more information on Beaujolais Nouveau visit www.winewithoutrules.com.
