Vintage Cristal

Two of my favorite things are champagne and anything and everything vintage. So it was pretty cool when I found this truely vintage bottle of Cristal in the basement of my wine shop. This particular location has been a liquor store for over 50 years, and just passed from owner to owner, so the basement actually has quite a few oddities. But I thought this bottle of 1955 Cristal champagne was quite a find. The wine has never been opened, but about half of it has evaporated.

1955 was a phenomenal year for champagne, so in a way it makes sense that it was squirreled away in the corner of the cellar. Too bad it was forgotten!
