Wine Gifts
by Carol Bancroft on December 10, 2007
For me, part of the joy I get from drinking wine is from the wine glass itself. While I wouldn't consider myself to be terribly fussy about my wine glasses, I know that proper stemware can certainly have an effect on the aromas and flavors you experience when drinking wine. There are plenty of gorgeous glasses out there, but I came across one that I thought was unique and would make an interesting gift - the Silhouette wine glass. As you can see from the photo, it would certainly be a conversation piece. This video demonstrates how the glasses can enhance the experience of drinking wine:
The glass was invented by former restaurateur Peter Rigas. It is designed to seal in the wine's aroma and engage the drinker's sense of smell. From PR Web:
"Ninety percent of flavor comes from the sense of smell," says Rigas. "Silhouette locks in the craftsmanship and artistry the Vintner envisioned for each bottle of wine and locks out the odors that compete for your attention. The result is a powerful awakening of the senses and a truly memorable wine drinking experience."
The glasses retail for $78, but for a limited time the company is offering an introductory price of $54. The company even guarantees that the Silhouette glasses will give you a multi-sensory experience like no other glass. To say that I'm intrigued is an understatement!
